Govt urged to introduce incentives that will encourage female teachers to teach in remote areas

Education activists have urged government to introduce incentives that will encourage female teachers to teach in remote areas.
The plea was made by Civil Society Education Coalition CSEC executive director Benedicto Kondowe as the ministry of finance is soliciting views from the public on what should be included in the 2013/2014 national budget.
Kondowe observed that not many female teachers are willing to teach in remote areas, a development that has created a lack of role models to girls in such schools.
He note that many females find it difficult to adapt to hard environment as such they shun work places that are in hard environment.
He therefore suggested that government should introduce other incentives apart from the hardship allowance to encourage more female teachers to work in remotest area.
Kondowe said the presence of more female teachers in rural areas will act as an encouragement to girl child to work hard in school.
