Blantyre Police have arrested Davie Namusanya who is allegedly suspected to have authored President Joyce Banda’s resignation letter.

While police in Blantyre and Lilongwe confirmed the arrest, they could not divulge reasons but sources within the police said the arrest was in connection with the letter.  Blantyre Police Assistant Public Relations Officer Lameck Thembachako confirmed the arrest.

“Yes we have him here but I do not know the reasons for the arrest. We have just been told that it is Lilongwe Police that wants him. You can check with them,” said Thembachako.

When contacted Central Region Police Public Relations Officer John Namalenga said he was not aware of Namusanya’s alleged crime and he would have to check with his office today.

Last month Police in Lilongwe were reportedly keeping in custody another man, Wells Tsidya Phiri, in connection with the same issue. President Banda put a K2million reward on the head of the author of the letter.
