James Sangala- Coming on the day of the game
Flames coach Eddington Ng’onamo and his captain Joseph Kamwendo says the Flames game against Namibia on Wednesday June 5 2013 is a must win if the team is to keep its 2014 World Cup dreams alive.
The two made the remarks at a press conference at the Kamuzu Stadium soon after the team’s last training session before facing the Brave Warriors on Tuesday morning.
Malawi are tied on five points with Nigeria, who play Kenya away in Nairobi on the same day.
“We are not looking at what is happening in Kenya. Our concentration is on the task at hand and that is the Namibia game.
“A win is not an option. It is a must. We need a win and we are fighting our own battle. The six points at home are crucial and we need them all, “said Ng’onamo who was franked by his assistance Ernest Mtawali and Patrick Mabedi.
Kamwendo said the guys will fight for the win.
“We won away and that is done and gone. This is a new job all together. We all want to go to the World cup and we will give our best to get the result,” said Kamwendo.
Meanwhile defender James Sangala will arrive in the country two hours before the start of the game.
He was delayed by a visa issue in Angola and will only arrive at 12 noon from South Africa.
“He is a professional and we expect him to arrive in good shape. He will sleep over in South Africa and we have given him instruction to go to Gym and do prescribed exercises. He is in shape as the league in Angola is on and we expect him to be fit for the game,” said Mabedi.
The following is the Flames squad
Goalkeepers: Owen Chaima, Charles Swini
Defenders: Harry Nyirenda, Moses Chavula, James Sangala, Limbikani Mzava, Lucky Malata and Bongani kaipa
Midfielders: Douglas Chirambo, Joseph Kamwendo, Fischer Kondowe, Robert Ng’ambi, Frank Banda, Chimango Kayira, Young Chimodzi junior, Micium Mhon and Dabve Banda
Strikers: Chiukepo Msowoya, Roben Ngalande, Esau Kanyenda, Atusaye Nyondo and Gastini Simkonda.
