Lecturers in the University of Malawi are going on a sit in from tomorrow, September 30. The lecturers are demanding an undisclosed percentage increment in their monthly salaries.

According to sources, the strike was supposed to start long before the students had written their examinations (around August) but was put on hold to allow the students write their examinations.

However, now the lecturers are reluctant to release the results and have avowed to begin a sit-in this Monday.

Meanwhile, The Polytechnic of the University of Malawi has been closed indefinitely as the administration of the College has advised all its students who were supposed to arrive on Campus today (Sunday, 29 September) for the start of another semester tomorrow to not report at school until further notice.

This has further added weight to the rumors that there is a sit-in brewing in the University.
