A national alcohol policy is still being drafted to help minimize excessive alcohol consumption and distribution in the country, health authorities have affirmed.

Alcohol consumption is reportedly on the rise especially among the youth.

This includes smoking and excessive drinking of sachet liquor, popularly known as blackberry.

There has been no progress made in reducing alcohol abuse despite a number of efforts by several stakeholders
