13 yrs imprisonment for infecting 16 year old daughter

The Kasungu magistrates court has sentenced George Banda, 48, to 13 yrs imprisonment with hard labour for defiling and consequently infecting his step daughter with the HI virus that causes AIDS.

The court heard that on the night of October 26, Banda had sex with  his daughter after negotiating for the same from 2012 to no avail. According to the defiled teen, that night she accepted to lie down with her father after feeling sorry for him as her mother was admitted at the hospital.

Information that was presented at the court indicated that Banda knew that he was HIV positive when he took on his daughter and had unprotected sex with her; it was for the same reason that the court threw out his mitigation factors that the court should be lenient with him as he looked after his old parents and some orphans.
