Musician Lawrence Mbenjere of the Chiphaso fame is finally into politics, FaceofMalawi can confirm.
Mbenjere who has been absent from the musical spotlight for sometime sailed through the primaries of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and will, therefore, represent the party in the Mchinji West constituency.
Mbenjere joins a horde of other musicians who have decided to join the politics league of which Billy Kaunda, Lucius Banda, Allan Ngumuya and Wendy Harawa are but some of them.
Last year, Mbenjere disclosed his intent to contest but many people thought it as a joke.
