LAFARGE STARTS BENEFITING FROM A RECENT DIVERSFICATION

Cement producer Lafarge has started reaping from its recent
diversification and vigor in product promotion.
Since last year, Lafarge, apart from cement, has been producing other
products such as bricks called Dura-bricks and reasonably invested in
promoting the brand.
Lafarge Cement’s managing director Bruno Hounkpapi disclosed that
after a year of investments, his company has now realized a
significant rise in sells.
“Yes we had invested a reasonable amount of money in introducing
Dura-brick, and other various products that we introduced last year.
“We were also running tamanganso promotion aimed at encouraging people
to continue their building appetite and lately, we can safely say
these initiatives have now proved workable.” Hounkpapi said.
On the short term prospects of the country’s macroeconomics, Kounkpapi
expressed optimism that the environment will improve sooner than
later.
Meanwhile, on a related development Lafarge cement has played a role
in the renovation of one block at Queen Elizabeth Central hospital
where among others it sectioned the building to bring comfort to the
decried lack of privacy among patients.
Hounkpapi said his company spent 5 million kwacha in the project which
it regarded as part of corporate social responsibility.
Speaking on official hand over ceremony Authorities at Queen Elizabeth
Central Hospital have commended stakeholders for efforts rendered in
renovating and improving its service delivery.
The hospital’s Head of amputation centre who is also responsible for
adults, emergency and clinic Mulinde Nyirenda made the remarks this
during a hand over ceremony of a well sectioned block where the
institution treat and diagnose patients by Lafarge Cement Limited.
Nyirenda said the technical support from Lafarge is a relief as the
sectioning of the building has brought comfort to the decried lack of
privacy among pa
