Leaked iPhone 6 schematics turned into renders of the smartphone

Late last week some alleged schematics showing off the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 dimensions were leaked. The image listed the dimensions of the two smartphones, along with the shape of the casing. If real, then there’s sure to have been a fair amount of anger and questioning happening inside Apple over the weekend about how these diagrams became public.

But with schematics available, the inevitable has happened, and French website NWE has produced final renders of the iPhone 6 (also being called the iPhone Air) based off of the dimensions. You can see the renders below:

What’s clear from the images is how thin these two handsets are. The smaller 4.7-inch model is expected to measure 7mm thick, where as the larger 5.5-inch model achieves 6.7mm thickness (it may even be a 5.7-inch phone based on the schematic title). That suggests it could be the battery that ultimately governs how thick the new iPhones are, with the smaller phone requiring a slightly thicker battery because of the reduced overall space available inside the casing. Both handsets are also expected to have a camera that protrudes slightly from the case simply because they are so thin.

We already expected Apple to increase the size of the display in its phone. 4 inches no long cuts it on a premium device. It has also been rumored that Apple will use the tag “Ultra Retina” to describe the displays on the iPhone 6 due to a 389ppi resolution.

If these schematics are legitimate then we are seeing close to the final design of the iPhone 6 in these renders. And if that’s the case I can’t see anyone getting overly excited about the smartphone Tim Cook holds up on stage later this year. We’ll have been looking at it for months already.
