LIWEWE NO MORE

Death has been announced of Steve Lewewe Banda’s step farther  Dennis Liwewe, a Zambian football commentator who died at the age of 78.

He died on Tuesday after short illness.

Liwewe hailed from neighbouring Malawi and began his journalism career by working as a reporter at a newspaper owned by mines in northern Zambia.

Lewewe formerly known as the “Voice of Zambia” has traveled 96 times with the Zambian National Team, in 42 countries.

His death has come as a shock to soccer fans Internationally and in his speech, Minister of Sports in Zambia Chishimba Kambwili said: “We are sad as government. We can’t have lost such a man at this stage. He dedicated all his life to football.

“He had such a passion for football that sometimes he even used his personal money to follow our national team.”

His main dream was to see Zambia qualify to World Cup and grab Africa Cup of Nation
