President Joyce Banda who is also the Presidential Candidate for the ruling People’s party (PP)in the forthcoming tripartite elections has vowed to continue giving hand-outs to people in the country despite being heavily criticized.
Banda said this at Lunjika in Mzuzu over the weekend where the party conducted a campaign rally.
“Even in western countries there are ultra- poor people who survive on handouts so no one should fool me on that. I am saying I will continue to give help to those in need,” she said.
Various quote’s in the country have criticized the tendency of President Banda of giving hand-outs, saying it’s not her duty as presidents and its costly.
President Banda took the rain of power after the death of President Bingu Wa Mutharika on April 5 2012.
The forthcoming tripartite election will be her first test.
