Blantyre voters hold a mini demonstration following delays by MEC staff to open the polling center.

malawi voting2The situation at Blantyre Tax Office polling centre, under Blantyre City Central Constituency is slowly getting out of hand as voters have gone to the streets protesting against Malawi Electoral Commission’s (Mec) failure to ensuring that all necessary materials are available at the centre.

Voting has not started in most polling centres around Blantyre due to unavailability automated materials that are used to seal ballot papers!

Voting was scheduled to commence at 6:00am, and Mec officials are not forthcoming with responses regarding the missing materials.

Centres were voting is yet to start include Makheta, Kanjeza, Chitawira, among others!
