FaceofMalawi has uncovered that there is a plot to hold demonstrations in the eastern region district of Mangochi by cousins United Democratic Front (UDF) and Peoples’ Party (PP).
Information in our custody indicates that the two parties held a meeting at one of the primary schools in the district where they settled for the decision to hold demonstrations. The demonstrations will be held in favour of a vote re-count.
A source in the district who did not want to be named indicated that the organizers have decided to stage the demonstration without informing the district assembly or the police which is illegal. It was further disclosed to our reporter that the intention is that they cause unrest in the district so that in the long run the re-run of the votes should be heeded to.
Meanwhile with Malawi Electoral Commission declaring that the votes will go on a recount it is not known if the demonstrations will continue.
