CAMPAIGN GOING ON DESPITE CLOSURE

An observation by FaceofMalawi has revealed that campaign is ongoing in spite of the Malawi Electoral Commission declaring that campaigning today after 6 am is illegal and contravenes the country’s laws which might lead to prosecution.

People on social media continue campaigning for their rightful candidates which is a clear violation of the Malawi electoral laws. Others are only campaigning for their candidates whereas others are busy discrediting other party’s candidates.

Meanwhile others are just disclosing whom they will vote for and the qualities that the person possesses which can as well be considered as a part of rigging.

The Malawi Electoral Commission has not said anything on what it intends to do with those who will continue campaigning on social media after the campaign is over.

Questions on the social media are causing problems now especially considering the fact that there are some social network pages that will want to give false results of the polls which might lead to violence in the country.
