The Malawi Law Society (MLS) President Mandala Mambulasa has said ‘it is the waste of time for President Joyce Banda to call for fresh elections’ as the constitution of Malawi does not give her a mandate to do so.
He said this in an interview with a local media.
Concurring with Mambulasa, Political analyst Professor Edge Kanyongolo has hinted that both sections 82 (2) and 88 (2) that president Joyce Banda cited are ‘wrong’ interpretations on the matter of calling for fresh elections within 90 days.
Meanwhile chairperson Maxon Mbendera has urged all stakeholders to stand with him.
