Malawi President Arthur Peter Mutharika has made some appointments and promotions.

Major General I.E.J Maulana is now the new General and MDF Commander replacing General Henry Odillo while Major General Supuni Phiri is new Deputy Commander and has been promoted to Lieutenant General.

President Mutharika has also sent Ms. Hawa Ndilowe on a diplomatic mission to be the country’s High Commissioner to Tanzania.

Mr Willie Samute, the deputy Chief Secretary will act as Chief Secretary to Government.

Meanwhile, reports have emerged that Odillo is implicated in the Cashgate scandal and the only way for justice to move in the case is by having him out of office.

Odillo was one of the witnesses against Mutharika in his treason case. He had been claiming that Mutharika had been calling him the night that his brother, Bingu died urging him to take over government.

For refusing Mutharika’s offer, Odillo was given an award at the independence day celebrations by former President Joyce Banda.
