MALAWI GOVERNMENT RECRUITS TEACHERS WITHOUT INTERVIEWS

Malawi government has recruited secondary school teachers who finished their studies in 2012 and 2013 in different institutions across the country.

The list of names which is available in all education divisions contains names of graduates from Mzuzu University, University of Malawi, University of Livingstonia and Domasi College of Education.

Government has introduced a new recruitment policy, in which education graduates will be recruited automatically unlike in the past whereby they were required to undergo interview before being employed.

The new recruitment policy has seen many education graduates languishing at home while some left the country in search of jobs in countries like Mozambique and South Africa where teaching jobs are said to be abundant.

A student from Mzuzu University Alinafe Waya has praised the current government for showing interest in uplifting the standards of education by recruiting skilled and qualified teachers.

“It’s a good development considering that most secondary schools are flooded with unqualified teachers. The new government has taken a good step because these teachers will obviously be skilled and qualified,” said Waya.
