RECOUNT CASE ADJOURNED TO TUESDAY

High Court in Lilongwe has adjourned to next Tuesday the case in which the Malawi Congress Party is challenging results of the Lilongwe south east constituency parliamentary election.

The case has been adjourned after lawyers from both sides sought more time want to revise their arguments following the fire accident that gutted election materials at the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) warehouse in Lilongwe.

Justice Lloyd Muhara, who granted the injunction to DPP winner in the election, Bentry Namasasu was the one presided over the case.

According to MEC Chief Elections According to MEC Chief Election Officer Willie Kalonga, the warehouse contained about 1,500 ballot boxes, gas cylinders, gas lamps, generators, furniture and stationery.

Part of the material burnt were those from the disputed election.
