Members of Parliament and Ward Councilors of Luchenza Municipality on Tuesday elected Steve Kaliwo as new Mayor for Luchenza.
Kaliwo got five votes against three votes for Brighton Baluwa the only challenger.
In his acceptance speech, Kaliwo promised a good working relationship with the administration so that the area should move further in terms of development.
“We are not a threat to the administration of the Municipality as some may think. On behalf of the council I urge all workers at the assembly to take councillors as people who have come to assist in the development of our Municipality,” he said.
He further said he would make sure that there is equal distribution of development in all the eight wards in the Municipality.
Meanwhile Lawrence Molleni has been elected as deputy mayor after beating Joseph Bello and Patrick Chilomo.
