MEC COMPUTER CONTAINING DATA OF JUST ENDED TRIPARTITE ELECTION STOLEN

Barely weeks after the fearless fire destroyed Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) warehouse in Lilongwe and in the process destroying the disputed votes for Lilongwe South East constituency.

Reports reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that unknown thugs over the weekend in Nkhatabay broke into MEC office stealing a computer set which contained the entire district’s data of the just ended tripartite elections.

Nkhata Bay police publicist Martin Bwanali confirmed of the incident.

According to Bwanali, the suspected robbers broke into the office through a rear window just when one Mec’s officer had just gone out for lunch.

The police publicist, however, noted that it is premature to determine whether the crime was ordinary or there was more to it.
Meanwhile no one has been arrested in connection with the theft.
