CHAKWERA ASK GOVT TO INSTITUTE INVESTIGATIONS ON TSOKA MARKET FIRE INCIDENT

Date:

Opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has said he is shocked with the fire incident that gutted Tsoka market in Lilongwe.

Chakwera said this after touring the market this morning.

In his speech, Chakwera urged the government to swiftly intervene in the situation and investigate the cause of the fire.

Chakwela also promised that as a party, MCP will assist the vendors with relief package of not less than K1 million.

His visit comes barely hours after President Professor Author Peter Mutharika and some government officials visited the place and pledge to support the Vendors.

Over 3500 vendors have been affected by the fire and the vendors estimates that goods worth K1 billion has been destroyed.
