A Mother to Five year-old boy Miracle Gomani [Siphiwe Nkhoma] has dragged to Court Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) for negligence.
According to information sourced from High Court by Face of Malawi state that, the Child was admitted at the hospital on November 23, 2009 after he became malnourished. But his right eye caught an infection while he was still in hospital.
The doctor prescribed two types of Medication to be administered the same day. The doctor on duty instead of giving the required drugs for the eye, the doctor gave the child drugs meant for the ear.
Few hours later the eye started to discharge pus which led to temporary blindness on December 5, 2009.
Another doctor who came to check on the condition of the child discovered that the drugs were not the right one.
Miracle’s right eye was, therefore, deformed and shrunk.
The mother of the child is demanding about K35 million from KCH for the loss of the eye, pain suffered, and all the inconveniences.
Meanwhile the mother is cry foul as the truth on the matter is not seen since 2012
