MUTHARIKA PARDONS 403 PRISONERS

Barely a day before Malawians cerebrate 50 years of Independence, President Professor Author Peter Mutharika through Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security  has pardoned 403 prisoners.

This has been disclosed through a press release made available to the media.

According to the statement, the 403 prisoners who  have been pardoned are those who have served at least half of their prison sentences, with good behaviour and were not convicted of serious offences.

The statement further state that: “The pardon of the 403 prisoners is a symbol of forgiveness as the country commemorates its Golden Jubilee of Independence”.

The celebration will reach its climax tomorrow starting the prayers that will be held at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
