As the country gears for 50 years Anniversary cerebration to be held in Capital City Lilongwe, Police in Lilongwe Urban have arrested 303 people in a sweeping exercise.
The development comes barely days after the government through Minister of Home Affairs Paul Chibingu disclosed that the government will soon beef up security to deal with the high crime rate the country have registered so far.
Central Region Police Spokesperson John Namalenga confirmed of the arrest.
He said the police launched the exercise on Wednesday to make sure that preparations for the celebrations are carried out in a smooth manner.
Meanwhile police have charge these people with theft and house breaking.
