President Peter Mutharika has emphasized on the need to transform the country from being a predominantly importing and consuming to a producing and exporting nation.
Speaking in Lilongwe at the Golden jubilee Celebrations at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on 6 July, Mr Mutharika said the country has gone through different developmental challenges in providing social amenities and improving peoples lives.
“Our main focus right now is to make amends to our nation, and look for opportunity that may arise whilst preparing journing on our road of independence,” said Mutharika.
The next step is for all citizens to take collective responsibility for the failures and shortfalls as a nation, and that all citizens must place honesty and integrity before anything else. “We need to learn from our past mistakes, and strive to do better as we prepare to take our country to greater prosperity,” he said.
