SANYAHUMBI SAYS BYE TO MALAWI

Head of the UK Department For International Development (DFID) in Malawi Sarah Sanyahumbi takes leave of office after three years in the country.

According to the British High Commission, Sanyahumbi will be replaced by Jean Marshall.

Sanyahumbi has been head of DFID Malawi since August 2011 helping out with addressing the issues of poverty and inequality facing the majority of Malawians and also supporting programs aimed at economic growth and wealth creation to turn the economy around and end poverty.

Sanyahumbi will be remembered as a humble but down to earth diplomat who personally wanted Malawi and Malawians to improve in all spheres of life.

She was on the spotlight when information emerged that millions of tax payers’ money had gone missing in the public service as she led the position of donors on the same.

DFID is also in Malawi to help with the promotion of transparency and improved governance in Malawi besides encouraging recognition of the importance of good governance in general.

Sanyahumbi has worked for DIFD for close to 20 years heading various country programmes but has passion about helping developing countries improve lives of poor people.

In Malawi, DFID works to help alleviate poverty, support economic growth and encourage good governance

Sarah holds an MA from the University of Edinburgh and an MSc in public sector management. She is passionate.
