Over 60 People are reported to have sustained serious injuries after bus they were traveling in from Mzuzu to Blantyre overturned at Kanduli escapement in Nkhata Bay on Tuesday night.
Nkhata Bay Police spokesperson Martin Bwanali confirmed of the development by saying, the Marcopollo bus, registration BP 3390, developed a brake failure.
According to Bwanali those passengers with serious injuries have been referred to Mzuzu Central Hospital (MCH) while those with minor injuries were treated at Nkhata Bay District Hospital.
When approached for comment, MCH Principal nursing officer Judith Chirembo confirmed the hospital admitting the injured passengers.
Of late Malawi has registered an increase in road accident creating panic among travelers.
