POLICE SEARCH FOR UNKNOWN ARMED ROBBERS WHO SHOT AND ROBBED A WOMAN IN LL

Police in Lilongwe are searching for unknown armed robbers who shot and robbed a Woman cash in foreign and local currencies while coming from a bank in Lilongwe.

Lilongwe Police Publicist Kingsley Dandaula confirmed of the development and identified the victim as Winnie Kaliwo.

Speaking in an interview with one of the local media house in the country [Capital fm], Dandaula said Kaliwo who is currently battling for her life at the Kamuzu central hospital, had over US$20,000 and half a million Malawi Kwacha when coming from a Bank at City Centre where she went to source the forex in readiness for a business trip to Dubai.

According to the police, the incident happened at a car park where the victim was stopped at gunpoint by the robbers, but when she tried to resist, they shot her in the arm, pulled her off the car and sped off.

The incident comes barely days after Police in the a same Capital, Lilongwe shot dead four suspected carjackers who hijacked a car belong to Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Since President Professor Author Peter Mutharika took the high office, the country has register an increase in crime rate putting Malawians across the country under panic.
