The incredible story of Martha Payne

Speaking of today’s children and social networks ( Haro, opera & The Band Loom s) I have today an example of Scottish schoolgirls who wanted to change what serves her school cafeteria. Within a few months she managed not only that, but also help build a dining room in the African Malawi for 2,000 children and their photos, articles and example inspire millions of people around the world.

30 April 2012 Martha Payne, at that time nine years of Scottish schoolgirl Lochgilphead, with the help of his father founded a blog called NeverSeconds and subtitled ” One primary school pupil’s daily dose of school dinners “or” school lunches daily dose of one primary school pupil ” . want to write about what they served in their school cafeteria. Decides to publish under the pseudonym “VEG” (Ex Gusto Veritas – Truth of taste). Like when evaluating restaurants are found on the blog photos of food that you chose Martha that day, what they think about him and his quality, sometimes even mentions the number of hairs in the food and add a review on a scale of 1-10 by the so-called “Food- o-Meter “.

The first guest on the blog appeared on May 8 2012 Martha had the day rectangle pizzas, one potato croquettes, a few grains of corn and a small muffin (see photo below). The contents of the tray people so shocked that the blog during the days become a national and global sensation. A lot of it contributed by well-known British chef and activist for change of food served in school canteens Jamie Oliver, he wrote on his Twitter: ” Shocking but inspirational blog. Keep going, big love from Jamie x. “” shocking, but inspirational blog. Go on. With Love, Jamie . ”

This immediately triggered media interest and Martha to your blog started appearing on the website of the Scottish and British press and on the radio. It did not take long and the school announced that the children will be able to take lunch unlimited amounts of fruits, vegetables and bread.

Martha began blogging as part of a school project. And because she was not satisfied with the food in the school cafeteria and decided to write about that. Within a few weeks changed the dining room in many ways his approach. The ban on photography and blogging Martha triggered a national debate and examined the strength of Scottish democracy. Martha has inspired and continues to inspire thousands of children and millions of adults worldwide. It’s hard to imagine how many school cafeterias around the world after reading NeverSeconds began to change. Man and not make sense of what is one little schoolgirl from a Scottish backcountry thanks to the blog and her father managed a couple of weeks.

Who Martha’s story but you know, you know that prohibition and re-enabling her blog, the change in approach dining with her at school before everything started.

Among the comments on the blog because there were also opinions that may be glad to have some lunch at all. Millions of children around the world are not so lucky. With the increasing popularity of the Martha therefore decided to donate all the local charity Mary’s Meals, which in years voluntarily worked her grandfather. Mary’s Meals is dedicated to building a canteen in poor parts of the world. She sent them to the account of the first 50 pounds came from a local magazine for publishing photos of her. It occurred to her to create an account on the dedicated crowd funding platform justgiving.com a blog has announced that he wants to select £ 7000 for the construction of dining in Malawi Africa. Almost immediately the account was £ 90,000. To date, 7795 people put down to £ 143,016 and chosen as 2043% of the originally requested amount.

September 2012 In less than half a year from now, when Martha founded her blog. A couple of months since she took a picture of my first lunch. Martha and her father Dave Lirangwe arrive in Malawi in East Africa, to celebrate the opening of the kitchen, which feeds 2,000 children. The kitchen, which built and operates the money collected Martha fans. Many children, including Martha’s face emotional tears roll down …

After returning from Africa with Martha and her dad Dave decided their experiences with blogging and building a canteen in Malawi write and publish a book entitled ” NeverSeconds – The incredible story of Martha Payne . ” The Incredible Story of Martha Payne. The profit from each book sold will pay 25 lunches children in Malawi.
