MALAWI BOXER ISAAC CHILEMBA READY FOR TITLE SHOT AFTER DEFEATING CORY CUMMINGS

Malawi’s Light heavyweight Isaac “Golden Boy” Chilemba defeated Cory “Black Ice” Cummings in the seventh round.

Isaac is rated (23-2-2, 10 KO’s) while Cumming (17-7-1, 13 KO’s)

Early in the fight both fighters appeared evenly matched. Cummings who is much shorter than Chilemba but the height difference did not appear to bother Black Ice.

Cummings connected a hard right to Chilemba’s chin in the fifth. Isaac came out with a much fighting spirit in the sixth.

Cummings’ left eye was starting to swell closed in the later rounds before referee, Eric Dali, stopped the fight at 2:28 in the seventh round to give Chilemba the victory via TKO.

Isaac Chilemba declared after the fight, “I feel good. It was a good fight. He was well prepared for the fight. He came out strong and took some of my best shots until he just couldn’t take anymore.

I want a title shot next. He called out Canadian based Jean Pascalto be his next victim; I am hoping to get a chance at him or chance at hard hitting russian Kovalev next.” His manager, Jodi Solomon added, “I am really proud of Isaac. The work he put in has really paid off and we just need to keep pushing harder. If he keeps pushing I think he is capable of anything.”
