MINIBUS ACCIDENT CLAIMS FOUR LIVES

Death toll in a road accident involving Ntcheu District Council vehicle and a Minibus which happened on Saturday at Kapalamula in Balaka district has risen to four.

Balaka police spokesperson sub-inspector Joseph Sauka confirmed of the development in an interview with a State controlled media (MBC 1).

According to Sauka, the accident occurred when the Toyota VX driven by Mike Maleka collided head-on with the oncoming mini bus resulting in the death of three people.

The fourth person Macdonald Gremu who was a teacher at Kawale Comunity Day Secondary School and was coming from official duties at MANEB in Zomba died on Sunday on his way to Zomba Central Hospital where he was referred.

Sauka says all the four who have died were in the Mini bus while drivers and several passengers escaped with minor injuries.

Meanwhile Police have arrested Maleka for causing death due to reckless driving.

Maleka comes from Maganga village, in the area of Traditional Authority Mlonyeni in Mchinji district and will appear in court soon.
