Zambia’s Chipolopolo U20 aim at Malawi

The Zambia under-20 national has arrived in Blantyre, Malawi ahead of this Saturday’s Senegal 2015 Africa Youth Championship final round first leg qualifier against Malawi.

Head coach Hector Chilombo named an 18 man team which did not include skipper of the side Lubambo Musonda who has signed for Armenian side Ulisses and defender Benedict Chepeshi who sustained an injury during trials in Portugal.

The duo has been replaced by Konkola Mine Police’s Austin Muwowo and Sweden-based defender Peter Mulenga respectively with Kabwe Warriors midfielder Langton Mbewe being given the captain’s arm band.

Zambia will be confident going into the tie with the majority of the players having been together for a while and actively playing in the Super League.

The winners between Zambia and Malawi after two legs will qualify for the Africa Youth Championship finals in Senegal next year.

The team:
Goalkeepers:
Mangani Banda (Zanaco), Lawrence Mulenga (Kabwe Warriors).

Defenders: Boyd Mkandawire (Napsa Stars), Peter Mulenga (Sweden), Paul Phiri (Kalulushi Modern Stars), Simon Tembo (Warriors), Kayawe Kapota (Mpande Youth Academy), Alex Mwamba (Power Dynamos).

Midfielders: Kelvin Chinyama (Damiano), Chuma Mutale (Kalulushi), Spencer Sautu (Green Eagles), Langton Mbewe (Warriors), Larry Bwalya (Nchanga Rangers), Charles Zulu (Zanaco), Austin Muwowo (Mine Police).

Strikers: Davie Daka (Zanaco), Patrick Ngoma (Arrows) and Seth Sakala (Napsa).
