A 78-year-old man is in police custody at Phalula in Balaka for allegedly defiling an 18-old imbecile.
Police detective, Constable Paul Hasule Kapumila confirmed of the arrest and identified the suspect as Luciano Maulidi who hails from Mundira village, Traditional Authority Chanthunya in the district.
According to the police, the suspect has been defiling the victim on several occasions.
“And last week the suspect defiled her again and the victim revealed the ordeal to her mother who reported the matter to Police Unit who arrested the suspect,” he said.
Medical examination done at Phalula Health centre proved that the girl was really defiled and the suspect was diagnosed with sexually transmitted infection.
Meanwhile police have disclosed that Luciano will appear in Court soon.
