LIVINGSTONIA SYNOD BLAST THE CALL FOR THE FORMATION OF NYIKA REPUBLIC

As debate continues on the proposal by former ruling People’s Party (PP) Provincial Chair for the Northern Region Christopher Mzomera Ngwira for the formation of Nyika Republic.

Livingstonia Synod of Church of Central African Presbyterian (CCAP) has added its voice on that matter, saying the church cannot support the idea.

General Secretary for the Synod, Levi Nyondo said the Church is surprised to see the issue coming out now after the elections.

“The Church believes in unity, so bringing in Federal system of government in the country will just divide Malawians.

“All this while no one was able to come forward with the issue, why now after the election? Had it been that the issue is of national concern the Church could have supported”, said Nyondo.

Eerier, eight Chiefs led by Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe blasted the call, saying the issue is politically motivated.
