A 37 year-old man is in Police custody in Kasungu for allegedly hacking both arms of his whom he allegedly caught with another man.
Police spokesperson Edwin Kaunda confirmed and identified the suspect as Kilimoni Banda and the victim as Ida, 30.
According to Kaunda, Banda was tipped that his wife, Ida, brought men in the house whenever he was out to his job as a watchman.
He said on Monday this week Banda tricked his wife that he was going to work as usual but after sometime he decided to go back to the house without notice and caught her red-handed.
The police publicist said after hacking his wife’s arms he took her to the hospital where he played guardian.
“The woman narrated her ordeal to friends who visited her at the hospital but pleaded with them not to reveal what actually happened. But her friends reported to us,” he said.
The suspect will appear in court soon to answer charges of Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH).
Meanwhile NGO Gender Coordination Network Chairperson Emma Kaliya has described the incident as ‘barbaric’.
