Zomba High Court Judge Redson Kapindu has today ordered a release of call logs of former president Dr. Joyce Banda as requested by businessman Oswald Lutepo, the prime suspect in the plundering of public funds dubbed cashgate.
The development follows the lifting of the injunction taken Banda’s lawyer two weeks restraining the release of call logs, arguing that doing so will be invading her privacy.
In the related development, Banda’s lawyer has withdrawn the application made two weeks ago to join Lutepo’s case as an interested party.
In his ruling, Judge Kapindu said the call logs should be surrendered to the court before 27th of this month.
Lutepo through his Lawyer, Oswald Mtupila requested for the calls Banda to be used as evidence in court.
The plundering of public funds dubbed cashgate is the first of its kind in the country’s history and it has led to the suspension of donor aid.
