Lilongwe Magistrate Court have fined driver Mwamadi Assani K60,000 for being found guilty of failing to comply with laws of Malawi.
The court heard that on Thursday, Mwamadi aged 27 while driving a Tata Registration Number NU 6411 deliberately cruised heavily past a vice president’s motorcade.
And the law clearly states that all vehicles should stop whenever a presidential convoy is passing by.
However Mr Mwamadi never bothered to stop despite effort by the security vehicles to block him instead he wanted to hit the first lead vehicle of the Veep’s convoy.
The convoy then had to stop inorder to allow Assani to pass with his cruising truck.
The Magistrate after the hearing passed the K60, 000 fine as judgment saying the behaviour of Assani put the life of the second citizen at risk.
Mwamadi pleaded guilty to the offence, paid the fine and was released back on the road.
