Police in Phalombe are keeping in custody a 40 year old Frank Chitseko, primary school teacher for allegedly defiling his 13 year old student and forcing her abort her pregnancy.
Chitseko hails from Mandawala village in the area of Traditional Authority Kaduya in the district.
FaceofMalawi speaking to Phalombe Police Spokesperson Augustus Nkhwazi, in an interview revealed to our reporters that the suspect had been having a sexual relationship with the victim for more than a year.
However the issue got revealed when the victim’s parents discovered that their daughter was in pain and heavily bleeding after the abortion.
The victim then explained everything to the parents who reported the matter to police who then later apprehended Chitseko.
The victim has since been admitted to Holy Family Hospital in the district.
Chitseko is soon expected to appear in court to answer charges of defilement of a minor and aiding an abortion.
