A 32-year-old man who is believed to have escaped from Ntcheu prison has been arrested in Mangochi.
The man is believed to have terrorized residents in the district with an AK47 riffle.
32 year old Patrick Bwanali and an accomplice have been implicated in a series of armed robberies in and around Chilipa and Nankumba Trading Centre.
Speaking in an interview, Mangochi Police Public Relations Officer, Roderick Maida revealed that the suspects who were arrested following a tip that they had been carrying out another armed attack on a shop in the area.
Police managed to arrest but the other suspect fled the scene and is currently at large.
