MAN IN POLICE CUSTODY FOR DEFILING TWO GIRLS IN ZOMBA

A 32-year old man is in Police custody in Zomba for allegedly defiling two girls aged 11 and 12.

Zomba Police Deputy Spokesperson Constable Patricia Supiliano confirmed of the incident in an interview with Malawi News Agency and identified the suspect as Luke Nambazo.

According to Supiliano, the suspect had asked the two girls to accompany him to Naisi to collect some furniture.

But after arriving at Chinamwali Trading Centre, the suspect is said to have bought the girls some chips and also gave them K500.

He then told the girls that they would go back without the furniture, and that they would use a different route.

But Constable Supiliano said upon reaching Roughdrum Bridge, the suspect forced them into a nearby bush and defiled them one after another.

Parents of the two girls were suspicious with the way the girls were walking and the victims revealed that Nambazo had defiled them.

The matter was reported to Zomba Police station and the suspect was subsequently arrested.

Nambazo will appear in court soon to answer the charge of defilement, contrary to section 138 of the penal code.

Nambazo comes from Mjojo village in the area of Traditional Authority Mlumbe in the district.
