A 91-year old woman of chief Simwatachela in Zimba district is battling for her life in Zimba Mission Hospital after unknown people stabbed her with a knife on suspicions that she was practicing witchcraft.
Southern Province deputy police commissioner, Milner Muyambango, confirmed the incident and identified the woman as Tedela Munkombwe.
He said the woman was attacked around 21:00 hours last Saturday.
“Unknown people entered the old woman’s hut around 21:00 hours and stabbed her several times using a knife. She is in hospital and her condition is bad. People in the community said the old woman was being accused of practicing witchcraft,” said Muyambango.
