KANYAMA REPLACES DZONZI AS INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has hired the services of Paul Kanyama as new Inspector General of Malawi Police Service replacing Mr. Loti Dzonzi who has resigned from the post.

Mutharika made the announcement on Saturday during a media briefing at Sanjika Palace.

Kanyama who was serving as deputy until his appointment will be deputised by Rodney Jose.

Meanwhile Dzonzi has been appointed as deputy ambassador to the United Nations.

In his acceptance speech, Kanyama hailed Mutharika for the appointment and warned criminals in the country that honeymoon is over.

Mutharika also congratulated the outgoing IG, saying Dzonzi has played a very big role in his tenure.
“Mr Dzonzi is a man of integrity, God-fearing and I’m very confident that he will represent us well at this world forum. I’m wishing both Messers Dzonzi and Kanyama all the best as they take up their new roles. I assure the new leadership at the Malawi Police Service of my total support,” said Mutharika.

The President said it gave him great joy to see an outgoing and incoming Inspector General sitting next to each other, taking turns to congratulate each other and making a commitment to the nation.
