Reports reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that two children of the same family in Dowa have drowned in a Dam while their mother was busy working in the garden.

Police publicist for the district Richard Kaponda confirmed of the development in an interview with the State controlled media house (MBC 1), saying the siblings, an 11-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, went to a near-by dam to swim.

He said the boy found himself at the deepest point of the dam where he failed to swim back and his sister tragically followed suit.

Postmortem conducted at Dowa district hospital indicated that the two siblings died due to suffocation.

The deceased hail from Kamkwamba village in the area Chief Mkukula in Dowa district.
