A 21-year old man in Ntchisi has been sentenced to 5 years imprisonment with hard labour for allegedly stealing a bicycle.
Ntchisi Firtst Grade Magistrate Court heard that, Boniface Kaimvi, committed the crime on December 16 last year.
According to the court, the convict at Ntchisi Police staff houses stole a bicycle valued at K35 000.00 belonging to Ronald Msukwa, a police officer at the police formation.
The convict was found red handed selling the bicycle at Malaya drinking joint where he was arrested.
Kaimvi pleaded guilty to the charge of theft of bicycle which is contrary to section 282 of the penal code.
First Grade Magistrate Dorothy Kalua said she handed Kaimvi to a 5-year sentence because he pleaded guilty to the charge.
Kaimvi hails from Chimbwanda Village in the area of Traditional Authority Malenga in the district.
