Malawi government in its recent developments to restore the economy has now licensed three foreign companies that will buy tobacco this year.

Confirming the development with FaceofMalawi Tobacco control commission (TCC) Chief executive officer DR Bruce Munthali further revealed that the tobacco markets are likely to open in April.

Though D.r Munthali did not disclose the names of the companies but noted that the development will help open new markets for the country’s tobacco.

According to sources gathered by FOM, the buyers are coming from South Africa, one from China and the other company from Egypt.
