Namwela Police in the Eastern district of Mangochi have arrested four people for allegedly being found in possession of human bones.

Namwela Police Publicist Senior Superintendent Enock Kunje Kaduya confirmed of the development in an interview with the Press, saying two are Malawian nationals and two Mozambican nationals.

According to Kaduya, the suspects were arrested on Tuesday night at around 9pm during a sweeping exercise held at Chiponde border separating Malawi and Mozambique.

He said the four were seen carrying a bag at around 9pm and Police were suspicious.

“We rounded up the four and late apprehended them. After conducting a search in their bag they were carrying we found six human bones,” said Kaduya.

Kaduya said after quizzing them one of the suspects said the human bones were from Mozambique.

The four have been identified as Dickson Kandulu, Steven Thomas, Dickson Musa and the other one is yet to be identified.

Meanwhile the four are being kept at Namwela Police Station and they will appear in court soon.
