Following the an accident that happened in the wee hours of today at Zomba Anglican Theological College, claiming two lives of Chancellor College students, Police have told FaceofMalawi that the injured students are in critical condition.

While confirming of the accident, Eastern Region Police Spokesperson Thomeck Nyaude said four of the injured students are in a coma in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Zomba Central Hospital.

Nyaude identified the other injured students as Dingiswayo Moyo, Winnie Ndovie and Mirriam Nyirongo.

Nyaude said that the accident happened around 3am when the victims were driving back to Chanco from unknown place.

According to Nyaude, the driver of the car was over speeding and lost control, a situation which led to the vehicle to overturn.

However, according to one eye witness who was awake at the time of the accident and witnessed it, the car hit a pole near her house and overturned several times.

Meanwhile CHANCO has suspended today’s afternoon classes to a chance to students at the campus to pay their last respect to the deceased students at Zomba Central Hospital.
