MSB CLERK SLAPPED 6 YEARS JAIL SENTENCE FOR THEFT

Malawi Savings Bank (MSB) senior clerk in Ntchisi has been sentenced to six years Imprisonment with hard labour for theft by servant.

Police have identified the convict as Steve Chikhungwa aged 30.

State prosecutor Austin Daudi said the convict, who worked as a senior bank clerk at Ntchisi Malawi Savings Bank agency, stole K1 044 898.10 by receiving deposited cash and endorsing the amounts in customers’ passbooks, without depositing the money.

“In other instances, he fraudulently withdrew money from customers’ accounts,” said Daudi.

Chikhungwa hails from Chilemba Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Chimaliro in Thyolo.
