MWALE FAMILY SUES MALAWI ARMY,SULOM,FAM OVER HOOLIGANISM VICTIMS SON’S DEATH

Face of Malawi has learnt that the family of Geoffrey Mwale has taken legal action over the death of the 24-year-old son following a football fracas during the game TNM Super League between Surestream and Red Lions in May.

The deceased’s father Stanley Mwale, who is also a senior police officer, said he has engaged John Gift Mwakhwawa’s law firm to handle the case.
Mwale accused football authorities of failing to come to the bottom of the issue since the deceased was severely injured until his death on June 5 while being treated at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital where he was admitted on May 10.

“All my sons are not violent. There are well cultured people and he was beaten not at the stadium. They had the intention to assault him because they beat heavily on the head,” Mwale said.

“I have sued Red Lions, Malawi Defense Force, Sulom and Fam because it pains me and the family to lose such an innocent son just because of football when he was not involved in the violence.”
He said the lawyers would decide when to commit the case to court.

The game between Surestream ended in a two-all draw amid controversial goals from the team now FISD Wizzards FC.
Football fans alleged to be Malawi Defence Force soldiers from Chichiri Camp in Blantyre run amok to beat fans in the process injuring several including the deceased.

Football Association of Malawi President Walter Nyamilandu promised to help to bring the perpetrators to boo
