MUTHARIKA CALLS EDGAR LUNGU AS ‘MALAWI PRESIDENT’

There was drama at Sanjika Palace on Monday evening during the State banquet organized in hounor of Zambian President Edgar Lungu for gracing Malawi’s 51 years of Independence as the President referred to Lungu as Malawi President.

The development raised eye brows and a sense of amusement from guests at the dinner.

“Your Excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu President of the Republic of Malawi, Her Excellency Madam Esther Lungu First Lady of the Republic of Malawi,” confidently said Mutharika.

Upon realising his mistake president Mutharika jokingly said that there are a lot of countries that need to become part of Malawi and that he hoped Zambia was not.

“Well because everyone is trying to get a part of Malawi, hopefully Zambia is certainly not trying to do that”, said president Mutharika forcing laughter from guests.

During the main event at Kamuzu Stadium, Mutharika also shocked many Malawians when left the rushing to his home Sanjika leaving Zambia president Lungu behind with Vice President Saulos Chilima to finish watching activities at the stadium.

Mutharika also did not recognize the presence of the Opposition Political party leaders at the event, a move which attracted lots of questions without answers.

Meanwhile various stakeholders have questioned MK300 million which was spent during the whole commemoration.
